Resso shutting down in India

Hi,

ByteDance is shutting down Resso in India. The Indian government forced its removal from the Apple and Google App stores, this resulted in ByteDance pulling the plug for the service in India.

Existing users will be offered a refund of their remaining subscription fees.

Resso was already replaced (in some countries) by TikTok Music. Unfortunately, TikTok does not have any plans to open TikTok Music in India. In 2020, the Indian government banned TikTok as part of a bigger operation to ban all Chinese-made apps. Resso escaped that ban, but is now forced to close in India afterall.

Resso was the second largest streaming service in India (in terms of monthly streams), surpassed only by Spotify.
