Apple is a huge fan of spatial audio. For Apple, user experience on the platform is their number one priority. To make sure artists, labels and distributors also dedicate more time and attention to spatial audio, Apple intends to give incentives.

Plans are leaked regarding a higher royalty pay-out for spatial audio. It is a first sign for some tweaks in the royalty pay-out model of Apple, following Spotify and Deezer earlier this year.

“Starting next year, the company plans to give added weighting to stream of songs that are mixed in Dolby Atmos technology” reported by Bloomberg yesterday.

Earlier this year Apple revealed that over 80% of its global subscribers listen to spatial tracks each month.
